"The Power of Love" - This premiere production by Legendary Franco Zeffirelli specially commissioned by Royal Opera House Muscat for its inaugural season brings to light the mesmerizing recital of Puccini's last Masterpiece "Turandot" with Placido Domingo conducting the orchestra of the Fondazione Arena di Verona.


The world famous Mariinsky Ballet, accompanied by the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra conducted by Boris Gruzin, presents Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, a legend about a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse.

I never thought I would have any of Cher Lloyd's songs on my list after listening to Swagger Jagger, but this is amazing. Its one of those songs where you start to hum the beat at random times without even noticing.

After 3 months of chillaxing, the countdown for college finally begins. Even though I'm not looking forward for the heck of a lot of tasks & assignments to come, but I will bid farewell to the reckless me & work my fingers to the bone this semester inshallah.

NYFW: Nail Art for Spring 2012

Apparently Nail Art has made it's way down the runway for Spring 2012 in so many colors, shapes & patterns. Here are some pictures from backstage to the runways of the designs I loved the most:

~ CND did a very 80s Vans-inspired pink and blue checkerboard.

~ Pamela Love, Essie made an upside down V pattern that’s visually eye-catching.

~ At Jen Kao, CND did a creepy ombré using deep tones. It looks completely stunning. Use a top coat when the polishes are wet to get the blended look.

~ Ruffian's Brian Wolk and Claude Morais handpicked two unique shades to paint onto the press-on nails flashing a manicure of warm and cool colors.

~ Nonie Creme used Butter London's pink-nude shade called "Tea with the Queen" for a lingerie-inspired look.

~ CND's Candice Manacchio  from Joy Cioci created "lucite lace" nails, with their clear tips and hand-detailed lattice work.

 ~ Backstage at Odilon a MINX manicurist sports black and gold-spotted nails.

According to Pantone Fashion Color report for Spring 2012 the colors are going to be a splash of energetic & bright bunch.

I love the variety of the colors.. It defiantly suits the coming season to create combinations of festive yet sophisticated colors. Personally looks like Honeysuckle is my new favorite to punch up with during the next season!

Simple pleasures throughout the day can be far more gratifying than anyone can imagine. When you connect the dots between all these little joys, life seems fuller and more satisfying.

Here are a few of my little joys that fill me with bliss:

- Getting an unexpected gift. A perfume, earrings, flowers or even my favorite chocolate bar. It could be anything no matter how simple it is. It's the thought that counts the most.

- Watching a movie & suddenly a song I know plays in the movie's soundtrack. Something about it never fails to make me smile!

- The smell of bukhoor every time I enter the house. Utterly relaxing & it boosts positive energy.

- Going through my photography & some old albums remembering good times & memories. It's been a while since I last had the time to use my camera & I really miss it.

- Finding unexpected money in my wallet or jeans pocket!

- The feeling I get after finishing a book with a good story that got me hooked for days. I sometimes tend to read the last few pages as slow as possible just to hold on to that feeling for a bit longer.

.. & I can go on forever! The list is endless when you come to think about it, because the joys in life are in the unimportant details that we often belittle.

Reminiscence ~

Yesterday was a lovely Tuesday. One of the best times I spent with mom & my 3 beloved aunties that brought back many beautiful memories.

I remember how two years back having a day with my aunties & cousins was an essential, whether it was after school or during weekends. It was almost impossible for me to live without meeting my cousins less than twice a week, if not more. But sadly somehow that routine had to change & someone always had to miss the gathering when we started G12. I clearly remember it being a very busy year for everyone in the family.

I miss those days.. We surely do need more of them.

I want to appreciate the times when moments are made into memories. I know that wherever life takes me, these moments will always follow. They remind me of what's truly important. It's not just life, but living, & all the points in between.

Sheer volume in the music business?

Is it just me or is good Music - not excellent, not unique, just good - almost an impossible thing to find these days?

New artists & producers are all over the place, but everything I stumble upon is either auto-tuned or digitalized. & most of them have this annoying chorus & noisy beats.

Oh, & the lyrics! Are they out of msgs to carry to people, or do people prefer it shallow nowadays?

I don't mean to generalize, as there are good new musicians out there, but the thing is they are FEW & far between være langt imellem.

I don't mean to whine about this, but I truly wish I can find something that keeps me interested for more than a couple of weeks (if it's not less) ..!

15 things that I dislike!

As I didn't plan anything specific to spend my holidays on, I keep on waking up early in the morning with nothing but the complete feeling of boredom & dullness, especially that everyone are either sleeping or on their way out to work.
I guess being spontaneous doesn't work all the time ><"

Anyway.. To overcome my boredom I decided to share 15 things that I hate dislike the most:

1)      I dislike waking up feeling heavy & so not bothered to move for an inch.

2)      I dislike it when I can’t find an item I need badly, knowing it was always right in front of me when I didn’t need it.

3)      I dislike mosquitoes.

4)      I dislike the fact that I’m an emotional person.

5)      I dislike people who decide that they are not capable of doing something, without making an effort or trying hard.

6)      I dislike having a bad-hair day.

7)      I dislike it when I’m out of red nail polish.

8)      I dislike being out of credit, even for an hour!

9)      I dislike being late on someone, especially if the reason is that my ride was late on me.

10)   I dislike Oman’s hot weather. Sadly I didn’t get used to it. Not after 18 years!

11)   I dislike having an annoying song stuck in my head.

12)   I dislike it when I’m feeling distant from my beloved ones.

13)   I dislike hurting anyone, even unintentionally.

14)   I dislike plastic girls.

15)   I dislike how short winter is in Oman.

Time out.

Here I am .. Finally done with my first semester exams & having a whole month for holidays.

So far the past two days were one of the most beautiful days ever! Rainy days & cool nights that I spent on doing nothing but relaxing & having a good time on my own.. Which was truly what I needed as not so long ago I was down in the dumps.

·         GET YOUR PERMIT HAJIR! About time eb 9ara7a :)

·         Be a better daughter.

·         Be good to your sister.

·         Wake up every day on time for Fajer prayers.

·         Memorize & read Qur’an more often.

·         Spend less money, please!

·         Drink more water.

·         Think of yourself before others, even if for once.

·         Take courses in photography

·         Update your flickr with at least 12 photos a month.

·         Visit Thahla!

·         Finish the scrapbook

·         Paint your room

·         Make sure to stay in touch with your friends

·         Start saving money

·         Keep him in your eyes

·         Volunteer

·         Get paid for designing

·         Submit your assignments early or at least on time

·         Do not skip a class

·         Learn to cook – especially Baluchi dishes

Another year has passed & almost everything has changed in my life.

I’ve been through so much & I lost some people on the way… BUT, in return I came across many good people & met some friends – true friends - whom are truly down to earth & found one who is a precious dime. W el 7amdulilah! 

…

I trusted the wrong people? I believed lies?  I was let down? … All true, but what the heck?! That’s what life is all about, anyway (هذه سنة الحياة، مثل ما يقولون). It’s true that I made mistakes & took wrong decisions, & it’s true that it’s me to blame it at. But honestly, I do not regret anything. As a matter of fact I have learnt from my mistakes & have only grown stronger.

No, seriously. Even though we are to spend the first two weeks of 2011 preparing for our up-coming exams & then the rest of the month awaiting for our results to be announced *sighs* I admit that I truly cannot be more excited about the idea of beginning a whole new year!!!

I don’t want to have my expectations way too high, but I promised myself to get my optimistic self back & be as I have always been.

P.S. I confess that I cannot be happier or more grateful than I am right now.
